General & Lasting Powers of Attorney & Capacity Issues
There are many reasons why someone else may need to step in and help or deal with financial and /or Health and Welfare matters on your behalf.
- It may be that you are going abroad for a few weeks or months and you need someone back home to just pay your bills and deal with you post until you get back?
- It may be that you have recently been diagnosed with an illness and the thought of having to deal with everyday paperwork on top of the illness is too much?
- It may be that you have been involved in a road traffic accident which results in a hospital stay of several weeks or months?
- Or it may be that you have reached a certain age and time in your life when it becomes difficult to get out, or speak on the phone or read your post?
Non of us have a crystal ball, we do not know what is around the corner but whatever life throws at you, if you are prudent you will have already contacted Helen Gagan Solicitor and have nominated an individual or individuals (up to a maximum of 4) in a Power of Attorney document to deal with whatever situation arises.
If you wait until you have the illness or the accident or your health deteriorates simply due to your age it may be too late to get a Lasting Power of Attorney document in place as your mental capacity may be such that you are unable to provide Helen Gagan Solicitor with the necessary instructions. In such circumstances a family member, friend or carer’s only option is to make an application to the court to be appointed as your Deputy which is a very time consuming and expensive route to authorisation. Wouldn’t it be better to choose your own Attorney from the comfort of your own home or the office in Felpham? Why not Contact Us for a free initial consultation so that we may discuss with you what needs to be done?
